Project Overview:

This project signifies a personal undertaking, as it involves the redesign and revitalization of my own business, Mobile Paint and Sip. In my multifaceted role as the UX researcher, UX/UI designer, and UX lead, I orchestrated a comprehensive overhaul of the website. Our primary aim was to significantly boost reservation numbers and, I'm pleased to report, we achieved a remarkable 30% increase in reservations following the redesign, highlighting the project's substantial impact on our business.

01. Discover:

Project Scope:

-Mobile Paint & Sip Problem:

  1. User-Friendly Booking System: Users were unable to make event reservations directly on the website; instead, they were required to sign a contract and send it via mail.

  2. Event Details: Each event lacked summarized information about its activities, hindering users from gaining a comprehensive understanding of the event and finding inspiration.

  3. Lack of Intuitive Navigation: Users encountered difficulties in locating the desired reservation process due to the absence of user-friendly navigation.

  4. Artwork Showcase: There was no access to visual representations (photos) of the patterns participants could choose to paint during the booking process.

  5. Accessibility: The website used fonts and colors that were not universally suitable for all users, potentially creating accessibility issues.

02. Research

Market Research and User-Centric Approach:

As the UX Lead and UI Designer for this project, I spearheaded the market research phase to ensure my business services were not only innovative but also deeply attuned to the diverse needs of my potential customers. Through our research, I uncovered valuable insights into target customer segments and their unique preferences.

Target Customer Groups for Business Services:

I've categorized my business services into three distinct customer segments based on their age, ensuring our offerings are tailored to their specific requirements:

  1. Children (Age 4-12): My creative services for children are designed to foster artistic expression and support their educational development. As a UI designer, I've focused on creating a visually engaging and intuitive user interface that resonates with this young audience, promoting creativity and exploration.

  2. Adults (Age 18-64): Our versatile services for adults encompass relaxation, art therapy, and skill development. My role as a UX lead involved conceptualizing adaptable features that cater to the diverse preferences of this group, creating a user-friendly and customizable experience.

  3. Seniors (Age 65+): Recognizing the therapeutic and enjoyable aspects of art for seniors, our business offers services that prioritize accessibility and social engagement. My role in the UI design process included ensuring a user interface that is easy to navigate and includes accessibility features that cater to the needs of older adults.

Promoting Cross-Generational Events:

As the UX lead and UI designer, I've played a pivotal role in envisioning and implementing the user interfaces that facilitate these unique experiences.

By presenting this market research, I've helped shape my business services to be responsive to the distinct needs and preferences of my target customer groups. I've also ensured that our user interfaces are not only visually appealing but also functional and accessible to all, reinforcing my commitment to providing a top-notch user experience.

This user-centric approach, driven by research and innovative design ideas, is a testament to our dedication to creating a service that resonates with my audience and sets my business apart in the market.

Competitive analysis:

We analyzed six competitors to determine what aspects designers from other companies prioritize and what features they incorporate to enhance website design and improve user experiences. In conclusion, most of them did not offer a 'Direct Booking' feature, and many did not provide 'Pattern Selection.' However, it was evident that including 'Real Photos' from their events was of paramount importance

Success Criteria:

  1. A comprehensive competitive analysis report that encompasses key findings and provides actionable recommendations.

  2. Effective integration of valuable insights obtained from competitors into the website redesign project.

  3. A website redesign that demonstrates noticeable improvements in design, functionality, and user experience, aligning with or surpassing industry standards.

03. Define

Heuristic Evaluation:

I conducted a heuristic evaluation on our high-fidelity prototype to assess its usability, identify potential usability issues, and ensure it aligns with established design principles, further refining my event's booking system for an optimal user experience.

The goal is to streamline the reservation process, optimize mobile responsiveness, and integrate user-friendly features such as real-time availability updates and customer reviews. By prioritizing intuitive design and functionality, the project aims to create a more engaging and trustworthy platform that will ultimately lead to increased reservations, thus showcasing its potential to significantly benefit the business.

04. Approach: Design

LO-FI Sketch

The low-fidelity wireframes simplify the process of reserving a children's event. Users start by clicking "Book Now" and are intuitively guided through a sequence of choices, ensuring a smooth booking experience.

INCREASING FIDELITY | Mid to High-Fidelity Prototype

To enhance user understanding and interaction, we plan to increase the fidelity of our wireframe, adding detailed visual elements and refining user interface components while maintaining the streamlined flow.

USABILITY TESTING | High-Fidelity Prototype

As we progress, we will transition to a high-fidelity prototype, incorporating polished design elements, interactive features, and realistic user interactions, to create a fully functional and visually engaging representation of my event's booking system.

05. Next Step

1. User-Friendly Booking System:

As the UX/UI designer, researcher, and design lead, I played a pivotal role in implementing an efficient online booking system on the project. This system streamlines event reservations for users, offering a user-friendly, step-by-step guide with clear instructions. Additionally, it provides the option for digital contract signing, enhancing user convenience and reflecting our commitment to a seamless booking experience.

3. Easy Event Summary and Payment Setup:

Leveraging my experience as a UX/UI designer, researcher, and design lead, I reimagined the event setup process for organizers. This redesign streamlines event summaries and facilitates payments, providing organizers with an efficient way to manage events while enhancing their experience.

2. Artwork Showcase:

I had the privilege of crafting an engaging gallery of artwork patterns within the booking process, wearing my hats as a UX/UI designer, researcher, and design lead. This resource showcases high-resolution images paired with detailed descriptions, empowering users to make well-informed choices and deepening their engagement with the platform.

4. Seamless Confirmation and Calendar Integration:

In my capacity as the UX/UI designer, researcher, and design lead, I worked collaboratively to enhance the user experience by implementing a seamless booking confirmation system. This system includes website and email confirmations, and it allows users to seamlessly add event details to their phone calendars. This integration streamlines user engagement with our platform and reflects our user-centric design approach.
